These are permanent-install eave lights, which is a different product from a seasonal string. The 50 ft strip is meant to be clipped along a roofline, gutter or eave once and left there year round, then switched on and off by app or timer for whichever holiday is next. That is the whole argument for the category: you climb the ladder in October, and you do not climb it again in December or in July.

What the 30 points can do

The run carries 30 individually addressable RGB+IC LED points. Addressable means each point can hold its own colour at the same time, so the strip can do a colour gradient across the front of the house, a chasing effect that travels along the roofline, or a plain single colour when you want something quiet. The supplier rates the controller for 16 million colours and ships 75 preset scene modes, plus a DIY mode where you build your own gradient and chase patterns.

Thirty points across 50 feet works out to a point roughly every 20 inches. That is good spacing for a roofline read from the street, and it is not the same thing as a densely packed strip meant to be viewed from a few feet away. If you want a continuous unbroken line of light at close range, this is not the product for that.

Music sync and control

A microphone in the controller picks up music and ambient sound and drives the colour changes in time with it. It reacts to what the mic hears in the room or the yard, not to a file you select, so results depend on how loud the source is and how much wind and traffic noise is competing with it.

Day to day control is through the phone app, with a physical remote included for the things you do most often, and a schedule function that turns the run on and off at set times without any input from you.

Weather rating and installation

The LED strip is sealed to IP67 and the controller is rated IP65, with a stated operating range of -20C to 50C. That is a permanent-outdoor rating rather than a splash rating. Mount the controller somewhere sheltered anyway, because the strip is the part designed to sit in the weather.

The kit ships in a 210 x 210 x 80 mm box at about 1.4 lb. Anything you need to reach the eave safely is not included, and a 50 ft run along a gutter line is a two-person job on a ladder.

Ordering for Christmas

Handling is 1 to 3 business days and transit is 5 to 9 business days. Order by Monday December 7 to have it before Christmas, and allow yourself an install window on top of that, because a permanent run takes longer to put up than a string of lights.
