3D Motion Christmas Projector, Santa and Sleigh, Indoor and Outdoor

Description

A single pattern projector that throws a moving scene onto a wall, a garage door or the front of a house: two reindeer pulling Santa’s sleigh across the surface, with Merry Christmas lettering above and snowflakes drifting through the frame. The artwork is a gold silhouette on whatever colour your wall is, so it reads best against a pale, flat surface.

One pattern, not a slide set

This is worth being clear about, because many Christmas projectors ship with a carousel of interchangeable slides. This one does not. It projects the Santa and sleigh scene and nothing else. If you want to switch between snowflakes, candy canes and snowmen through the season, this is the wrong unit. If you want one good scene that you set up once and leave alone, it is the right one.

Placing it

The supplier recommends siting it roughly 10 to 32 ft from the surface you are projecting onto. Closer gives a smaller, brighter, sharper image; further gives a larger, dimmer, softer one. Thirty two feet is the outer limit and the image will be noticeably washed out there unless the surface is very light and the surroundings very dark. The head adjusts through a wide arc on its mount, so you can aim it up at a wall from ground level without propping it on anything.

Two mounting options are in the box: a spike for pushing into a lawn or border, and a flat base for standing it on a shelf, a windowsill or a floor indoors.

Weather and temperature

The supplier’s artwork gives an IP55 weather rating and an operating range of -20 to 60 degrees Celsius, which is -4 to 140 Fahrenheit. IP55 covers rain, snow and dust. It does not cover the unit sitting in a puddle, and the plug and any extension join should be kept off the ground and out of standing water regardless of the rating on the housing.

What is not published

CJ does not publish a brightness figure, a wattage, a lamp life or a motor speed for the motion effect, and the product’s own description contradicts its artwork by saying only that it is waterproof rather than giving the IP55 number. We have quoted the artwork figures as the supplier’s own. If precise brightness matters for your setup, this is a judgment call on a product with thin published data.

It is mains powered, so you will need an outdoor rated socket or extension lead for exterior use.
