Why grosgrain

Grosgrain is woven with a fine crosswise rib, so it has body. A bow tied in grosgrain stands up and keeps its shape on the way to the post office. Satin looks better in a photograph and collapses into a flat knot the moment anything is stacked on top of it. If you are wrapping a lot of parcels and you want them to still look wrapped on Christmas morning, this is the weave to buy.

What a hundred yards actually does

Figure roughly a yard per average parcel for a simple cross and bow, more if you are doing anything decorative. So this is somewhere around eighty to a hundred parcels, which is a household Christmas plus a work team plus a craft project with ribbon left over. Split across twenty patterns it also means you are not wrapping every present in the same thing.

Other uses
