2 Pack Lighted Christmas Porch Banners, 70.9 x 12 in, Buffalo Plaid Snowman and Santa

Description

These are the vertical porch banners you see flanking a front door, one reading MERRY and one reading CHRISTMAS, printed on red and black buffalo plaid. The lower third of each panel carries artwork: a snowman on one, a Santa with a sack on the other. A line of small LEDs runs down both edges of each banner, which is what separates these from the flat printed versions.

Size, and a discrepancy worth knowing

The supplier’s written description says each banner is 72 by 12 inches. The supplier’s own printed size diagram says 77.56 inches overall including the hanging ribbon, 70.87 inches for the printed panel, and 12.01 inches wide. Those are close enough that either figure gets you to the right decision, but they are not the same number, and we would rather show you both than quietly pick one. Measure your door surround against roughly 71 inches of panel and about 78 inches including the hanger.

Hanging

Each banner has a rigid pole sewn into the top with a ribbon tied to it, so the panel hangs flat instead of curling. Two cushioned buckles are included. There are no metal grommets, which means nothing to rust and nothing to mark a painted surround, but it also means you are relying on the ribbon rather than a hook through an eyelet.

Power and weather

Each banner takes three AA batteries in a small pack at the top. Batteries are not included, and you will want a spare set, because small LED strings on AAs typically give a few weeks of evening use rather than a whole season. The fabric is a high density polyester that the supplier says will not run in rain. We would still hang these under a covered porch rather than fully exposed, mostly because a soaked banner sags and the battery pack is not sealed.

One correction to the supplier copy

The supplier’s own description refers to a nutcracker design. There is no nutcracker on this product. The artwork is a snowman and a Santa, and that is what you will receive.
