The leaves are PVC and the light string is copper wire, both rated to handle weather. That is what allows it to live on a front door, a porch rail, a fence line, a window frame or a small tree rather than being limited to the mantel. Bring the mantel and the porch under one decoration and the front of the house and the inside actually match.

Battery power and three modes

Three AA batteries run it, so placement is not decided by where the nearest outlet is, and there is no cord to run down a doorframe. Three settings: steady on, flashing, or off. Steady suits an interior mantel or banister. Flashing reads better from the street, where a static string can disappear against porch light.
