Lighted Christmas Gift Box Set, 3 Stackable Boxes with 156 LEDs and Bows

Description

Three cubes, three sizes

This is a set of three lit gift boxes with bows: a 13 in cube, a 10 in cube and an 8 in cube, built from PVC panels on a metal frame and lit from inside with 156 lights in total. They are designed to be grouped, and they stack, so the same three boxes give you a tall pile beside a door, a stepped run down a path, or a scattered arrangement under a tree. The bows attach with hook-and-loop fasteners rather than being fixed, which means you can turn them to face the viewer once the boxes are placed.

How the set reads at night

Lit cubes work differently to figures. A figure is a silhouette; a cube is a lantern, and it throws light onto the surface it sits on. Put these on a porch floor, a set of steps or fresh snow and the reflected glow does as much work as the boxes themselves. The 13 in box is the anchor of the group, so place it first and build the other two around it. Because they are geometric rather than character-shaped, they also hold up well as a transitional decoration through the whole winter rather than reading strictly as Christmas.

Staking, stacking and wind

Six ground stakes are supplied. Stake them whenever they are on soil, especially if you are stacking, because a stack is a taller and more wind-vulnerable object than three boxes side by side. On a porch or a paved path there is nothing to stake into, so keep the stack to two boxes at most and put the largest at the bottom. Light hollow cubes move easily in wind and a toppled box on a hard surface is how a PVC panel gets creased.

Power and cord runs

Each box needs power, so plan the cord run for a group rather than for a single item. Site the arrangement so the cords run behind the boxes toward one outlet rather than spidering out in three directions, and use an outdoor-rated extension with the connections lifted off wet ground. Because the boxes are hollow, you can often hide surplus cord inside the largest one and tidy the whole group considerably.

Storage

The set ships at about 5.2 lb in a carton roughly 14.5 in on each side. The frames are rigid and do not fold down, so the three boxes nest at best and need a defined shelf rather than a soft bin. The bows come off, which is the part most likely to be crushed, so store those separately.

Honest notes

CJ’s specification calls the colour iridescent, while the supplier’s own photography clearly shows the boxes cycling through blue, purple and pink. We cannot tell from the listing whether these are fixed iridescent white boxes photographed under coloured light, or genuinely colour-changing. Ask us before ordering if that matters to you and we will check with the supplier rather than guess. The supplier also gives a net weight of 3 lb against a shipping weight of about 5.2 lb, which is normal packaging difference but worth knowing if you are judging sturdiness by weight. Handling is 1 to 3 business days plus 5 to 9 in transit; order by Monday December 7 for Christmas.
