Description

Rope instead of string, and why that matters

A string light hangs. A rope light holds a shape. The LEDs here sit inside a flexible sleeve, so the run keeps whatever curve you bend into it: along a stair rail, around a door frame, up a post, or spelling something out on a fence. That is a different job from a fairy string, and if you have ever tried to make a string light follow a straight edge you already know why it is worth having both.

Three lengths, priced separately

The 16 foot run suits a single door frame, a headboard or a short railing. The 49 foot run covers a porch front or a stair flight with slack. The 66 foot run is for a full roofline section or a long fence. Buy the length you need rather than joining two short ones, because every join is a failure point and an awkward bulge in an otherwise clean line.

RGB and the remote

Colour is selected from the handset rather than fixed at the factory, which means the same rope does warm amber in December and a single colour for a birthday or a game night in March. That flexibility is the main argument for RGB over a fixed warm white, and it is why these tend to stay up long after the tree comes down.

Plug-in, not battery

This runs from a wall outlet. That rules out the middle of a lawn, but it also means no dead batteries in week three and a consistent brightness all evening, which battery strings do not give you. Plan the run so it ends near an outlet, and if the rope is going outdoors, put the plug and adapter somewhere sheltered.
