Sixteen strands instead of one long string

The traditional way to light a tree is to spiral a single string from the base upward, which takes about forty minutes, requires you to reach through branches you have already decorated, and leaves one dark patch you notice only after the ornaments are on. This set works differently. Sixteen strands hang from a common point at the top and fall straight down the outside of the tree, like a skirt. You drape it once and adjust.

What that changes in practice

Coverage is even without any thought, because gravity does the spacing for you. Taking it down in January is one motion rather than an unpicking exercise. And because the strands sit on the outside of the foliage, the light reaches the front of the branches where your ornaments are, instead of getting buried in the middle of the tree where it does nothing.

The trade-off is honest: this is a top-down look. It suits a cone-shaped tree well and an irregular or very wide tree less well. If you want light deep inside the branches, a conventional string still does that better.

Remote and power

An infrared remote handles switching without crawling behind the tree, which is the one job nobody volunteers for. Power is over USB, so it runs from a wall adapter, a laptop, or a power bank. A power bank is worth considering if the tree is standing somewhere without a convenient outlet, such as a bay window or a landing.

Two colours, picked once

Warm white is the safer choice and the one that lets ornaments carry the colour. Multicolor is the traditional choice and reads as more festive from across a room, though it fights busy ornaments. Both come as a sixteen strand set at the same price, so the decision is purely about the room.
