Most inexpensive artificial trees are built from flat PVC strips cut to look like needles, which is why they read as fake from close up. This one uses 404 mixed hard needle PE tips, moulded with actual needle shape and thickness. On a 4 foot tree, where the viewer is usually standing within a few feet of it, that difference is the entire reason to pay more.

Small tree, full profile

At 4 feet this sits on the floor rather than a table, and the branches run out to a genuine width instead of tapering into a cone. It suits an entryway, a bedroom, a home office, or a second tree in a room where the main one lives elsewhere. It is also a sensible choice if you host in a small space and want a real focal point without losing a corner of the living room for six weeks.

Unlit or pre-lit, and which to pick

Two options. The unlit version leaves the lighting to you, which means you choose the colour temperature and you can replace a failed string in ten minutes. The pre-lit version carries 150 warm white LEDs already wired through the branches, which saves the fiddliest part of decorating a dense tree and keeps the wiring invisible. If you decorate once and leave it up, take the pre-lit. If you expect to keep this tree for many seasons, the unlit version outlives its own lighting.

Snow flocked finish

The flocking is applied over green needles, so the tree looks frosted rather than white. Expect some shedding when you first shape the branches, then very little afterwards. Shape it fully in one session: pull each tip out and slightly upward, working from the bottom, and the 404 tips will close up the silhouette.
